"I am a certified elementary education teacher through Kean University. During my experience at Kean University I completed field experience in both third and first grade classrooms. During this time I was able to assist in teaching as well as observe students learning.
My internship experience in the field includes a full year spent in a first grade classroom where I both taught and observed. In addition to the time I spent in this classroom, I was also actively involved as a temporary member of the staff. I attended faculty meetings, I&RS meetings, parent/teacher conferences and much more.
After graduating from Kean University in January of 2012, I spent time substitute teaching. I believe that my time spent substitute teaching has provided me with invaluable experiences. I have been able to spend time in nearly every grade K-5 where I have learned about the students and the curriculum in these grades.
After substituting for several months, I was hired as a head teacher for a preschool class with The Learning Experience. Although I was hired to fill a maternity leave, I was asked to remain in my position due to exceptional performance. While teaching preschool I have been able to continue developing teaching skills, while preparing my students for kindergarten with basic skills for literacy, math, science, and social studies.
