"Hi, my name is Lydia. After being a stay at home mom, I went back to school and completed my undergraduate degree with Indiana University. I then completed my Master's in Bilingual Education - American College of Education. Most recently, I finished my Master's in Elementary Education - Grand Canyon University. I have been teaching for 9 years. I have experience teaching 1st -3rd gr., monolingual /dual language classes . I spent 5 yrs in a Special Ed classroom as a teacher's asst. There I worked with students K-2, with ADD, ADHD, autism, cognitive delays, legally blind, and MS. Through that experience I learned many techniques that I use today to differentiate my lessons.
In addition to teaching in the classroom, I also have 2 yrs of assessing and pre-screening preschoolers for kindergarten and tutoring grades 1st-5th in afterschool programs. Other after school projects have been a mentor for Girl's Fitness & Sewing club. For 2 yrs I was a mentor for Girl's Fitness, where we focused on building self-esteem for girls prior to entering middle school while journaling, choosing healthy snacks, and exposure to different types of fun exercises and activities. Another club that I mentored was a Sewing Club for 4th & 5th grade boys and girls. Here the students learned how to sew by hand as well as working on adult size sewing machines. While I held the position as Children's Activities Coordinator, at an adult learning English program, I was given the task to tutor, introduce STEM activities, and show the students how to cook.
Since the pandemic began, I have been teaching remotely and in person. As an experienced remote teacher I am familiar with various platforms to teach students. I have used and am familiar with Zoom, Google Meets, Google Classroom, Kami, Seesaw, a document camera, and other websites. I would say that it is my goal to make lessons engaging and challenging to reach the full potential of the student.
I am hopeful that you will see me as an exemplary candidate for tutoring your child." less...
