"I am a special education teacher with 25+ years teaching at the K-5 level in the public school system. I have master's degree in special education and hold permanent certification in special education PreK-12.
For many years, I taught my own English Language Arts and Math classes to students that were a couple years below grade level. I also have years of co-teaching experience in regular education classrooms at the various elementary grade levels and am very comfortable teaching elementary level content.
Most of my experience is in upper elementary and I have spent a large amount of time working in 4th and 5th grade.
I am Wilson reading trained and have 20+ years experience teaching reading to students that struggle with decoding, fluency and spelling. I also enjoy teaching math and helping students build number sense and flexibility with how they work with numbers. I have tutored elementary students in the past for close to 10 years but took a break in recent years. I am looking to get back into tutoring and after having taught from home during Covid, I like the prospect of providing some tutoring opportunities remotely.
My special education background allows me to easily differentiate tasks and incorporate strategies that help all different types of learners. I look forward to working with you!" less...
