"Hi there, my name is Alexa! Here's a little about me: I completed my undergraduate degree in the sciences, initially starting in pre-med at Drexel University before transferring to UMass Amherst, where I finished my degree in the School of Public Health. Throughout my academic journey, I interned at various hospitals in Boston and Philadelphia, gaining a robust understanding of subjects like organic chemistry, biology, and nutrition.
With both of my parents being middle and high school teachers, education has always been a significant part of my life. During college, I spent time as a student teacher and substitute, which allowed me to develop a unique perspective on teaching and learning. I've also had the opportunity to tutor students in a range of subjects and am an active participant in the Big Brother Big Sister program in NYC, where I support a college student in her studies, spanning from English to math to sciences.
In my tutoring approach, I strive to make learning an enjoyable and impactful experience. I focus on relating to my students and breaking down complex material into basic, understandable concepts. Whether it's through creative lesson plans or one-on-one support, my goal is to foster a deeper understanding and a love for learning in every student I work with.
I'm excited to continue using my education to make a positive impact and to help students achieve their academic goals. I welcome any resources or suggestions from students or parents and am always ready to provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
