"I'm Madison! I graduated magna cum laude with bachelors degrees in psychology and American Sign Language and a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. My junior year I began working with 6-12 year-olds in a social and emotional developmental program and my interests shifted towards teaching in a classroom setting. I applied and was accepted into Teach For America and I am now in my second year of teaching. In the 2022-2023 school year I was a third grade general education teacher and this year (2023-2024 school year) I am a second grade general education teacher. I have fallen in love with teaching and wish to expand my teaching outside the classroom.
I am certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching phonics. The Orton-Gillingham approach is a direct, explicit, and multisensory strategy used to strengthen student understanding and knowledge of reading and writing the English language. I also implement multisensory strategies into math concepts as needed in order for students to be able to conceptualize the math topics they are learning.
My goal is to benefit the students I work with in the ways that work best for them, therefore I welcome any resources students or parents can provide me. I am easy to reach and will always respond quickly. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to working with you!" less...
