"Hi, my name is Amanda. I am a kindergarten teacher. This is my first year teaching. I absolutely love what I do. I work with children all day and it is never a dull day. Individual tutoring is such a great way to help students succeed. Not only will their academics grow but also their confidence.

When I tutor, I first gauge where the student is academically, then we (parents/guardians, the student, and myself) determine goals, and then make a course of action to meet those goals. Of course all students progress at differing speeds so I maintain flexibility to meet them where they are and grow them from there.

I am an elementary school teacher. I have experience teaching children to read and write. Reading (primarily in K-2) also goes hand in hand with phonemic awareness skills and, in both higher and lower grades, reading comprehension.

I taught kindergarten and I understand the different ways to teach phonemic awareness to children. Whether it is blending and segmenting phonemes, phonemic manipulation, or fluency.

Spelling can be taught by helping the students to blend and segmenting words. This helps then identify each sound and the letter names that correspond with each sound. Then it is important for them to have a good understanding of our rule breaker words that don't follow the traditional guidelines.

I am a very patient and loving person. I will promise to be patient, kind, and fun for your child. Children are actively engaged when they are interested in something. Once I learn the interests of your child, I will be able to plan lessons or explain concepts in a way that is interesting for them.
