"I am an elementary school teacher with a Master's Degree in the area of special education. I have had taught for over 10 years with the ages of preschool through eighth grade. My passion is reading and literacy as well as phonics development. I have had training in the Orton-Gillingham Phonics and Reading programs, Fountas and Pinnel Leveled Literacy Intervention reading program, Lucy Caulkin's Reading and Writing workshops and also the Handwriting Without Tears program.

I also enjoy math and have experience in the Touch Math learning system and am very creative in developing ways to engage students in all subject areas.

In the 10 years that I have taught, I have been an inclusionary support teacher, resource room teacher and self-contained classroom teacher. I have also been employed as a homebound teacher. I also have a 9 year old son who has Down syndrome and ADHD so I am able see things not only from the perspective of an educator but also as a parent to a child with special needs." less...
