"Hi, I'm Corina! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and one in German. I then went on to get my Masters and PhD in Linguistics with a specialization in child language acquisition. I taught linguistics at the university level for about a decade and have recently changed careers to become an elementary school teacher - I'm currently student teaching in a third grade classroom and am on track to obtain my Elementary Education certification in June of 2023.
I am new to tutoring, but I have extensive experience teaching and working one-on-one with college students and elementary-aged children (including my own two children). As a teacher, I work hard to develop engaging lessons, often using educational games or art to make "boring" topics more enjoyable. I have extensive knowledge of language (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and I believe in using explicit phonics instruction with decodable books to develop confident readers. I would also love to tutor elementary mathematics, science, or social studies.
I am also available to tutor college students preparing for the Praxis II: Elementary Education Multiple Subjects and Foundations of Reading tests. I've recently prepared for and excelled on these tests myself (200/200 score for Praxis and 283/300 score for Foundations of Reading) and can provide invaluable guidance to future teachers preparing for these exams.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson!" less...
