"My name is Matthew, and I'm a Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia in 2019, with a degree in computer science, and then turned toward the humanities. I'm now writing a dissertation about American literature and history.

I work with high school students who are already at an intermediate or advanced level in the humanities, and who want to progress beyond their grade. My teaching strategy mixes writing tasks with critical reading assignments, so that students learn about style and argument from established authors.

I take pride in my students’ success. Working together, we’ll look at your strengths and interests to build a plan that suits you. Past students of mine have come from the U.S., Europe, and Asia, so you can expect cultural competency and tailored learning plans.
