"Hello everyone. My name is Cassie, and I am originally from Brooklyn New York, where I spent 12 years working as a Supervising Police Communications Technician for NYPD's Communications Division. I have been living in Atlanta for the past 11 years and currently work as a government contractor.
I have over twenty years of professional experience, including crisis and emergency management, public safety communications, humanitarian assistance, and public health incident management support for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (where I am currently assigned). I started there as a core member of the initial team assigned to establish and staff the Emergency Operations Center for the CDC. I also assisted in the design, development, implementation, and management of CDC EOC Operations while serving full time as an Emergency Response Coordinator.
In my current role I coordinate CDC involvement with other Federal Agencies and helped provide and prepare personnel and equipment for participation in exercises or actual deployments. I have also worked directly with federal, state, and local emergency management agencies and assisted in providing emergency response and recovery support following many major disasters around the world, including (but not limited to): the Earthquake/Tsunami in Thailand, Hurricane Katrina, the Earthquake in Japan, and outbreaks in China (SARS), Haiti (Cholera), and Mexico (H1N1).
I am currently a student at Capella University, working on my Doctorate Degree in Public Service Leadership, with a concentration in Homeland Security. I possess a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University and a Bachelor of Science in Security Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I am also a member of ASIS International (ASIS) and the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).
I hope that you will consider my qualifications for Emergency Management Tutor, as summarized above." less...
