"Mitchell was born in Visalia, California. After initial academic struggles leading to a year of online school, he was able to improve his grades and gain college admission. He graduated Summa Kum Laude from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in pharmacology; For his work in pharmacology, he was awarded the Jean Devlin Memorial Scholarship for highest achievement in the major. Concurrently he was involved in mentorship programs, volunteer work with underserved communities, emergency department documentation, and teaching MCAT courses. His academic success continued in medical school with high scores on exams and rotations. During medical school, he also volunteered with the Student-Run Free Clinic and Street Medicine Initiative. He earned 260 on Step 1 and 275 on Step 2, as well as >90th percentile on all clerkship shelf exams. Mitchell is now working as an emergency medicine physician in New York.
Mitchell comes from a family of educators and loves helping students succeed. He understands the stress of taking "high-stake" tests.
