"Casey P. is a graduate student at Brown University, pursuing a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and Health Services with the goal of improving mental health education in the public school curriculum. Casey has extensive education experience in both classroom and one-on-one settings. She began volunteering in a special needs-integrated kindergarten classroom as a high school student. Since then, she's student taught both ECE and HS classes, held tutoring and teaching assistant positions, and completed the MTEL. Her specializations include ASD education, collegiate grammar and writing, writing for research, ECE and HS mathematics, biostatistics, biology, chemistry, public speaking, and visual art. She earned her BS and BFA with high honors from Suffolk University and plans to pursue a medical doctorate following her MPH.
Casey loves math but doesn't consider herself to be a typical "math person." She likes to approach math problems as puzzles, complicated jumbles of information that need to be sorted through and translated. Casey views excelling in math like communicating in another language: it has less to do with the concrete vocabulary or tools you posses, and everything to do with the strategy you use to transfer understanding.
Casey is available for virtual tutoring sessions. She has flexible scheduling, years of experience, custom materials (including worksheets, review guides, concept building activities, practice exams, and more), and proven pedagogy." less...
