"With more than 750 hours of online tutoring experience at two companies, I bring professionalism and empathy to interactions with students of all ages. I enjoy tutoring students because I was once on the other side of the table! As an undergraduate physics major at Cornell University, I received supportive, concept-based, and empathetic tutoring that greatly increased my self-confidence and mastery of the course material. In my tutoring sessions, I use many techniques which I learned from my tutors, and my #1 goal is to empathize with the student and make them feel valued despite their academic struggles. My tutoring sessions focus on helping the student understand the "why" -- "why is equation X appropriate and not equation Y?". From my own experience, this approach allows students to fully understand the course material and apply it in a variety of settings, from academia to careers and internships. I am a recent graduate of Cornell University who double-majored in Physics and German Studies. I also have a Masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. I currently live in the Ithaca, NY, area.
