"As a first-generation college graduate of my family, it has always been my goal to provide leadership, mentorship, and support to my peers around me to give back to my community which helped me to get to where I am today. I started tutoring secondary math at the age of 15, helping students struggling with Algebra 1. This passion for education, mentorship, and aspiration to help others led me to early childhood education through NYC Department of Education (DOE) where I served as an 8th-grade math teacher. My accomplishments throughout my first year include the contribution to the design and development of curriculum, teaching material through the creation of weekly custom-made templates, scaffolding worksheets, and facilitating an after-school intervention program. Currently, I serve as a Program Associate at a nonprofit.
As a math tutor, I focus on empathy and confidence, I want to truly get to know my students and understand their pain points. This will enable me to conduct effective tutoring sessions which will ultimately led to students building confidence within themselves.
