"I’m rather a nerd for all things English: essay writing, narratives, grammar, sentence construction, and punctuation. The details about how to use the English language are like a game to me. I believe all people can learn to use the English language and communicate their ideas clearly and masterfully. I love assisting students/writers to create essays that analyze: literature, persuasive articles, works of art, songs--just about anything.

My teaching colleagues came to me to review writings they were publishing to our colleagues because they trusted my knowledge of how English is constructed.

Eleven years of tutoring, some in person, now, mostly online, is informed by 33 years of teaching public high school and, for a couple years, community college courses. For 10 years, I guided juniors in AP English Language and Composition courses. Nearly every one who took the exam, passed it for college credit.

I coach International Baccalaureate English students. I coach TIQA-TIQA-C: topic sentence, introduce and quote, analyze, conclude. I coach any type of writing, from beginning writers to doctoral writers.

I prefer to begin with an Async review (if requested) of the student's most recent essay draft with scoring rubric and teacher comments if those are available. During an Async Review, I give in-line comments from which I devise lessons for the specific strengths and areas of growth for this student to practice in order to reach their full potential.

After earning Rank One at UofLouisville, KY, I, subsequently, created my portfolio and became a National Board Certified Teacher in English, Youth & Young Adults.
