"Hi! My name is Selene and I am a freshman at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio studying Business Management. I graduated from the Charter School of Wilmington in June of 2024 with a 4.107 GPA after taking 6 AP and 17 honors courses.
I have been teaching for nearly half of my life, covering subjects ranging from music and dance to ESL and reading comprehension. I have volunteered in Korean Schools since I was a middle schooler, assisting in classroom activities including crafts, language exercises, and music.
I am skilled in working with children aged 4-16 both individually and in small groups, and have experience working as a day camp counselor. I also am able to teach ESL, especially to Korean youth. Additionally, with a 34 on the ACT (including a 36 in reading and 34 in English), I am skilled in standardized testing.
My approach to teaching includes evaluating my students learning style as well as strengths and weaknesses. I believe that especially for young children, it is critical to be patient and utilize several learning approaches until we find one that works for them. As a neurodivergent student myself, I understand that the traditional teaching methods that are often used in schools may not be a one size fits all solution for all students. In standardized testing, I aim to transform the way that the students approach their questions while building strong reading comprehension skills." less...
