I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University. Miraculously, I now work full-time as an engineer, which means I can use recent, real-world examples to demonstrate just how useful education can be, and why your child should care. I have a deep love for science and math, and what incredibly powerful tools they are.
I also have three children with special needs, and one of my greatest joys in life is seeing them work hard to accomplish new things and reach their goals, even if they are modest ones. I'm a firm believer that we should take pride firstly in our work ethic and improvement, and secondarily in our achievements. What may be a huge accomplishment for one student could go unnoticed by another, but discovering your strengths and weaknesses is key to finding purpose. I wouldn't have the success I do today if it weren't for understanding this, and I love to help kids see it as well.
Incredibly, I use math every single day - it is the foundation for everything I do professionally. I love to use examples from real-world situations that illustrate what a powerful tool math is.
