"Hello, to all potential students or parents of students!
My name is Matt and whether you're struggling with the basics of math or physics or just trying to get some help prepping for the AP exam I'm the tutor you're looking for. I am an experienced high school science teacher with 10 years teaching both Physics and Earth Science of all levels to students from applied up to AP.
Educationally I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in education. Because I come from an engineering background I always do my best to show my students that what we're learning has real meaning beyond what's on paper. I firmly believe when you understand how to apply the concepts of physics to the real world, your intuition improves and the content becomes more easily accessible to you.
Before going back to school to become a high school physics teacher, I had a successful career as a project manager at an aerospace engineering company. There I was constantly challenged to explain some of the most difficult engineering concepts to people with no technical background. I can explain how jet engines work to top level executives, teaching a high school student math and science is surprisingly similar!
There may be tutors on here with higher level degrees than what I have, but just remember that having a PhD in physics only shows that the person knows a lot of physics, it says nothing about their ability to teach the basics of those concepts. Rather than looking for the highest degree achieved, look for tutors with proven track records of effectively teaching the material your student needs to learn. As you search through the tutors on this site I promise you will be hard pressed to find one as passionate as I am about the success of my students.
Thank you for your time and I'm looking forward to getting to work with you!
