"I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Civil Engineering and an additional degree in Engineering and Public Policy in 2022 (3.97/4.00 GPA). I plan to pursue a master's degree in coastal engineering, a sub-discipline of civil engineering.
I started formal tutoring in college, helping other students with math, science, and engineering courses. However, my passion for sharing understanding started earlier as an ocean lifeguard in Califorina teaching beachgoers about the ins and outs of the dynamic beach environment for their safety and enjoyment. Drawing from this experience, I like to incorporate real-world examples and applications of the subject material into my lessons.
I teach because I love sharing the joys of the world around us. The more you know, the greater your ability to shape your own world and the world of others for the better. But such grand possibilities require a strong foundation in the fundamentals, and that's where I can lend a helping hand!
I tutor, math, science, and fundamental engineering classes. I also am happy to help with SAT (especially the math section) and Civil FE exam prep. Unsurprisingly given my graduate school concentration intent on coastal engineering, fluid mechanics is one of my favorite subjects (with more general earth sciences a close second).
Beyond academics, I love the outdoors, language learning, and making things! Outside I surf, rock climb, and backpack. On the language front, I studied Mandarin in high school and spent a year on a State Department Scholarship in Beijing, China, though I will say my speaking has gotten pretty rust :D. Finally, I always love to tinker with things and have fabricated many do-dads with wood, metal, and circuitry in the past.
But that's enough about me, I am looking forward to getting to know you and your goals for the future so we can start working together to create a lesson plan to get you there!" less...
