"I'm Catey! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in English Rhetoric of Science, Technology, and Culture, and a minor in Communications. I also received a Certificate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. My favorite classes in college were the ones where I had the professors who were the easiest to communicate with and the most willing to listen to feedback. I strive to be a tutor like this, who wants the best for each individual student and makes changes to fit these differences. I love seeing students learn new material and watching the light bulb in their minds glow brighter as they expand their knowledge base and start to understand.
I received a 30 on my ACT and learned through subsequent test attempts how to read quickly and efficiently so you can ensure that you finish the section with enough time to spare. In college, I was a Teaching Assistant for a Short Story class where I was in charge of a group of 20 students in a class of 100. I helped them stay on track with their reading and writing assignments, initiated discussions concerning the reading material, and gave them advice on how to improve their papers or think about the material more critically. Lastly, I have been writing for a local magazine for two years, as well as submitted articles to other publications, and have a keen eye for editing as well as creating written content. I can spot a typo from a mile away.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as I can, so I am open to any suggestions from parents or students on how I can adjust my teaching style to best suit your needs. I am a great communicator and planner, willing to sit down and make unique plans for each student as to how we will best learn the material. I am easy to reach and always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or if you'd like to schedule a lesson!" less...
