"I'm a recent Umass graduate who's passion derives from learning languages. When I decided to select Chinese as my major, it was due in part to wanting to discover something unique, while at the same time, serving the international community. I've been to many various provinces in China including Sichuan, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and every visit was a complete adventure that nurtured my cultural awareness and language skills. One of my most recent experiences in China that still holds a special place in my heart was when I was hired as an English-language TA. Being able to organize extracurricular activities that promoted language growth and understanding student difficulties through a mutual language were a few of my responsibilities. I can honestly state that I find a joy in helping children learn and become elated when I see their development.
Aside from being fluent in oral and written Chinese, I also specialize in formal English writing. I took Advanced Placement English Literature in high school, and had a 3.0 average for the consecutive English classes I took per semester. Whether it be writing an essay for the SAT, analyzing abstract literature, or organizing a persuasive essay for college entry, I can help any student effectively understand written English.
