"Hi! My name is Stephenie. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in English Language Arts for native speakers, as well as English as a Second Language for dual language learners. I have taught students from preschool age to adulthood in English as a second language, reading comprehension and fluency, essay writing, phonics, grammar, and spelling. I have also taught students with special needs such as dyslexia, autism, and ADHD. I also have tutored adult learners in academic writing while I was getting my MPA, Master’s degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management. In addition, I also have a BA, Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Also, I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)/TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Teaching Certificate that is accredited by ACTDEC (Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses). I currently teach English as a second language, reading comprehension and fluency, essay writing, grammar, phonics, and spelling for all ages 5 years and up through a tutoring platform website. I tutor one-on-one lessons online currently. In the past, I have taught in classrooms at public schools and private schools. In addition, in the past, I have also tutored students at public libraries one-on-one.
I bring creativity, my sense of humor, and my easy going personality into every lesson I teach. Learning should always be fun! I tailor all of my lessons to each individual student including how they learn best, what areas they want to focus on, and any special needs they may have. I use a variety of media such as Powerpoint presentations, videos, interactive media, books, and worksheets to tutor my students in order to keep learning fun and engaging. That is the key to good teaching; not just what you learn, but how you learn, and how you feel while learning. My students learn so much from me, but they also have fun doing it and enjoy what they are learning. This is true even if they have had a hard time with the subject in the past." less...
