"I have been a teacher and tutor for 10 years. I have worked with many subjects and different levels of students. I started as a high school history teacher, but I soon realized that I enjoyed working with students of different backgrounds. I went back to school to become a TESOL teacher. In the mean time, I worked with 0-5 year olds on building blocks of learning and with migrant workers. Soon I was working as an advocate in schools from migrant children, tutoring them at home and in school. My first job was as a history teacher for students who spoke languages other than English. It was challenging but I learned how teach complex material in the most simple terms. I also learned how to teach reading and writing very clearly and effectively. I was incredibly successful in this, to the point that many of my students were able to pass rigorous state exams even with low levels of English.
