"Hello! I'm Cora! I'm a sophomore Psychology major at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. I recently changed my major to Psychology after experiencing a year and a half of being an English major. My favorite subjects throughout elementary, middle and high school were always English and history. I have a knack for working with students of all ages, from little ones just starting off, to teens trying to pass their big ACT/SAT tests, to adults relearning their skills for a new job.
My previous tutoring experience lies mostly in high school, where for my sophomore, junior, and senior years, I worked in my school's Writing center, assisting kids with their essays. I also spent a lot of my free time lingering in the tutoring center, where there was more of a focus on basic skills like reading comprehension and critical thinking. I have a somewhat alternative outlook on tutoring. I believe (mostly with children) that if school itself isn't helping, then conventional teaching may not be the way to learn for many. I like to individualize lessons around things that you or your child are interested in, as it helps keep focus and provides mental shortcuts/connections.
