"Greetings!

My name is Jessica. I tutor children and adults in AP English, English Literature and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). My other expertise is exam preparation. These exams include TOEFL, SAT and IELTS. Equally important for you to know is that I tutor adults to prepare them for the USCIS interview and tests.

I have taught English in the United States and abroad. This domestic and international teaching experience has made me a teacher who brings variety, patience and creativity to my lessons. A Masters Degree and certificates in TEFL and TESOL make up my academic foundation. Time living and thriving in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Syria, Jordan, Tunisia, Kenya and Switzerland has brought depth to my understanding of the world of teaching.

Lastly and to English Language Learners (E.L.L.) specifically, I know the challenges of learning a language as a teenager and as an adult. I advanced my Spanish as a teenager. In my 30s, I failed an Arabic class twice before I really started to write, read, understand and speak it. Then in my 40s, I started my study of French. Because of these experiences of language learning inside and outside the classroom, I learned valuable techniques from my teachers and fellow speakers of these languages. These techniques are what I bring to my tutoring sessions with my students. I hope you take advantage of these techniques as a student of mine!
