"Hi, I'm Kristen! I am a recent NYU English Literature M.A. graduate (GPA: 4.0) and writer with several years of experience in academic, professional, science, copy, and creative writing. For undergraduate studies, I graduated from Brown University magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and Biology. During my master's, I taught as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate NYU English students Fall 2023, and will be teaching again for the Spring '25 semester. As a TA, I led weekly recitations of 30 students, provided feedback and grades on student essays, and gave one-on-one support to students during office hours. I also have experience one-on-one tutoring in English and writing, providing feedback on essay writing and English assignments. Currently, I am working as a freelance writer and have a few publications in progress. I've always had a passion for writing, and my motive in tutoring is to help others find joy and fulfillment in writing as well.
I am qualified to teach in the following subjects: English, Reading, Writing, Literature, and Proofreading. I can help with essay brainstorming and editing, writing skills, English assignments, and reading comprehension and analysis, to name a few specifics. My tutoring approach is open and adaptable to your needs! I strive to both provide guidance and give you space to develop your own unique writing voice, so I can provide as much or as little structure as you see fit. I travel somewhat regularly, so I mainly offer remote lessons, although I am open to discussing in-person/hybrid lessons if scheduling and location work out.
Above all, I offer an empathetic, people-oriented approach and find meaning in helping others in any capacity. I am driven by my desire to connect and collaborate with others through writing and language, and would love the chance to work with you! I'm happy to adapt my teaching methods and approaches to your needs and learning style, and am always open to discussing what is and isn't working for you. I hope to connect soon!" less...
