"I work at California State University, Dominguez Hills as an English Supplemental Instructor, and I have been doing this for the last three years. My students like me as a tutor because they always acknowledge the strategies I employ in teaching. I help my students gain a deeper understanding of the reading materials they are assigned in school and develop their writing skills. I also work with students in programs such as English as a Second Language.

I understand my task as a tutor very well. My primary responsibility as a tutor is to help my students understand English, speak it and develop excellence in writing and reading. My duties range from the preparation of course work, planning of lessons and the marking of work handed in. I am also good at setting targets for my students. I consider safety of students during lessons as one of my major responsibilities.

I often assess my students through informal quizzes, reciprocal questioning, paired problem solving, turn to your partner, note processing, problem solving rubric, formal definitions, text review (divide and conquer), visual representation and others. All these strategies have helped me win the hearts of so many students ever since I started working as an English Supplemental Instructor.
