"I specialize in one-on-one tutoring, and emphasize meeting students at their level to plan personalized lessons for all skill levels of reading and writing. I can teach all ages and English coursework up to SAT and ACT English, AP Literature, and AP Language. I can also help with college level writing. I am experienced in working with school-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as I am also a Developmental Therapist currently working with special needs populations. For interested students and families, I can apply my experience as a university student advisor to help with college applications and university retention concerns. I have over 5 years of English tutoring experience and value the opportunity to share my love of reading and writing with my students. Whether you need help editing your essays, preparing for AP exams, or writing a poem for presentation, together we'll break the hard stuff into smaller bites and have fun while we work!" less...

Education and Qualifications

school: University of California, Davis

I graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Anthropology with high honors in both subjects. I spent two years as the team lead on a research project in the lab of distinguished professor Dr. Suad Joseph, editing and instructing the written research reports and presentations of 14+ interns. I served as an academic advisor for four years, helping students plan and improve their academics at the University level. I worked in Career Services at UCLA where I developed and led an English language workshop for international masters students in the Anderson School of Management. In my post at UCLA, I was responsible for editing and reviewing the resumes of students in the Master of Financial Engineering program. I also serve as the nonfiction editor of an online, submission based magazine, reviewing, editing, and preparing submissions for print.

I am myself a creative writer, and an experienced public speaker and spoken word poet. I participated in Speech and Debate, crafting long creative and argumentative speeches and learning persuasive and impactful techniques that I now love to share with others. I believe a command of language is akin to a command of spirit. Useful language touches the parts within us which make life meaningful, and so it is accessible to us all. I'm just here to help you make the connection, and make your homework a little more meaningful! I'll combine my education, experience, and a little intuition to give you a unique learning experience tailored specifically to your needs.
