Prior to my master’s degree, I earned my bachelor’s from Rhode Island College in Theatre and Communication. Consequently, I am a proficient public speaker and (hopefully) an excellent persuasive writer. Additionally, I earned scholarships and awards for my essay writing throughout my high school career. In recent years, I’ve worked with high schoolers on college application essays, and I’ve assisted college undergraduates with outlining and revision. I am a current correspondent for a major Rhode Island newspaper, and I am now seeking a consistent tutoring schedule.
I believe every student has the potential to be a great writer; it’s simply a matter of finding their voice. I take a more conversational approach to literary discussion, because critical analysis can be fun if it is not alienating. I aim to walk students through a strategy for essay-writing that will be applicable to any piece they are assigned going forward. I also strive to have meaningful and memorable conversations regarding their reading material, and hopefully provide them the tools to approach reading with an open mind.
I can’t wait to get started!" less...
