"I am a seasoned English teacher with 20+ years of experience in teaching ELA, ESL and college reading/ writing. Currently, I work as an adjunct professor of English and writing tutor at two colleges. I have a bachelor's in biochemistry and 3 master's degrees, English literature, linguistics and TESOL. I currently work at SUNY Brockport and Bryant and Stratton College, Rochester, NY and regularly tutor students in one-on-one or small group settings. I am comfortable working online too because I am very good at making use of online tools and resources for helping my students.

My students have been able to achieve desired test scores in high stakes tests (e.g. SAT, IELTS, TOEFL) after working with me for a few hours. I have tutored students who had had several failed attempts at NYS Regents. Succeeding at Regents was necessary for them to get their high school diploma and a few hours of consistent tutoring with me helped them achieve their goals.

My philosophy of tutoring and teaching is based on the universal principles of effective learning. My students and I work as learning partners. I first identify the learning goals and the strengths of my student. Then, my student and I make an objective assessment of the gaps in our knowledge. Then, I devise a learning plan not only to fill these gaps in my students' knowledge but also to boost their confidence for their future endeavors. For each of my student, I make a learner centered plan with focused practice in areas where improvement is needed. I work with high school students, college students and English language learners (both adult ESL learners and elementary to high school students). In my teaching career, I have taught English to students of various age groups, cultures and language backgrounds.
