"Hi, my name is Samantha. If you're a student seeking extra support in reading, writing, or any other aspect of your English classes, I might be the right tutor for you!
I have years of experience working with students specifically in these areas. In 2018, I earned my BA in Secondary English Education, completing my student-teaching in an 11th-grade Language Arts classroom. In 2021, I earned my MA in English, during which time I was a TA for both American and British literature courses. For the past three years, I have been PhD student in a Comparative Literature Department, where I design and teach my own world literature and composition courses for undergraduates. I also have experience working as a writing tutor at the university level, assisting students with topic narrowing, thesis statements, citation methods, revising, and grammar and mechanics. Though I have the most experience with college students, I am also certified to teach English in NY, and would be equally excited to work with middle or high schoolers!
I cater my practice to each individual student, but my teaching philosophy revolves around demystifying literary studies and the writing process, ensuring that each learner feels supported and respected, and finally helping students to find their own voices. Working with students one-on-one is one of my favorite parts of teaching, and I would be so excited to learn with you. If you are interested in working together, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions. I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
