"I'm Ryan. I've spent the past 20 years working with students and professionals to reach their goals in writing, literature, and film. My tutoring journey began in earnest my freshman year of college, when I saw that many of my friends and dorm mates were struggling with their essays and papers, and - since it seemed to come easy to me, and I quite enjoyed it - I offered to help them out. It wasn't long before word began spreading of a "writing whisperer" on campus who helped even the most desperate and hopeless of students to write A papers. Soon, I became a bona fide tutor for students of all levels, across all subjects, all they faced the daunting task of having to put pen to paper. Since then, my range has expanded - tutoring middle school students in the core language arts, high school AP lit, screenplay and television writing, and just about everything in between. I thrive in adapting to a student's specific needs, bringing with me a deep well of experience, knowledge, and expertise in writing and all its various forms and styles.
I have a BA in cinematic arts from USC film school, where I studied cinema-television critical studies (basically studying and writing about film and story) and minored in English literature. My experience also extends to journalism, as I was lead entertainment reporter at my university's daily newspaper and editor-in-chief of my high school weekly. Additionally, over the past 15 years I have built a career as a successful television producer, working intimately with writers across all levels -- from first-timers to seasoned showrunners -- to develop their own projects, selling more than 50 projects to the major studios and networks, over 20 of which have gone on to become successful series." less...
