"I am an experienced English teacher with a love for writing and a passion for teaching students to effectively communicate through writing. A clear understanding of the fundamentals of English grammar is vital to a student's ability to communicate through speech and writing. Later on, a solid foundation in grammar is also fundamental to developing both informal and formal logic skills. If a student can think a student can write! I also have a passion and absolute love for classical literature. I have taught grammar, writing and literature at the high school and elementary levels, as well as Latin, at Coram Deo Preparatory Academy in Katy. However, once we moved to Hallettsville the drive just became too much.

I enjoy tutoring because I love enabling children to learn, comprehend and truly understand concepts that are vital to their educational success. In addition, contributing to that understanding and the subsequent confidence that it enables students to find is truly a unique experience and a reward in and of itself. I believe that effective teachers and tutors provide the proper scaffolding for students to ascend in the learning process and are also able to bridge the gaps that some students experience in the learning process. A good tutor will quickly be able to assess those gaps and provide the appropriate student-specific scaffold.

I absolutely love Latin. In my opinion, it is one of the most efficient languages ever developed. It is easily demystified and divided into its component parts. Once this is accomplished learning it becomes quite easy and even fun. Proficiency in Latin helps develop a better understanding of the English language as well as fostering better PSAT and SAT scores through the understanding of roots which lend to better vocabulary skills.

Besides my love for English and all of its aspects (grammar, writing, literature), I have experience teaching and tutoring at both the High School and elementary levels.
