"After graduating with an Education degree in 2010, I became NYS Certified to teach Social Studies. Since then I have worked throughout the country with students ages K-12 on a variety of subjects. At my last job in Fairbanks, AK I ran a School Age Programs Department that specialized in After-School Programs and K-12 tutoring services. I became a teacher because I love being a part of the "lightbulb moment," when all the student's hard work pays off and they "get it."
As a student, despite loving math today, I struggled with the subject. I know what it is to have to work hard to get it. I also know that every student has a different way of best understanding a concept. I am good at finding ways to relate the subject to the student in order to facilitate understanding.
I am a playful and enthusiastic person. I love learning and I maintain the excitement for learning that I first experienced in elementary school. I also enjoy spreading that excitement and finding ways to make learning fun.
I graduated as a History and Education major from college with a 3.85 GPA. I have taught World History courses including Global Studies 1 and 2 and Holocaust Studies.
