"Hi students! I am a college professor with over thirty years experience teaching, advising, and mentoring students at the high school, college, and graduate levels. I have taught almost every possible English class, from the basics like English Composition and Introduction to Literature to upper-level classes like Great Books, British Literature, World Literature, Women's Literature, Comparative Mythology, Chaucer, Western Civilization and Literature, Contemporary Literature, Shakespeare, and more. I have also published book chapters and articles on these subjects and edited several books on medieval literature and gender studies.
My specialty subject is medieval studies, which is what my MA is in and where my teaching started. Texts like Sir Gawain, Beowulf, and the works of Julian of Norwich, Chaucer, and Margery Kempe are among my favorites. In my teaching I have taught a much wider variety of literature, and I’ve helped students write in many different contexts. Working with students and helping them learn about these subjects and write about them with skill and confidence is the best part of what I do.
I love teaching, especially literature and writing, and I also really enjoy connecting one-on-one with my students. I have served as a youth group leader, an advisor to student clubs (including the Gaming Club and GSA), faculty fraternity advisor, and faculty advisor of the College newspaper. I think what I bring to my students is enthusiasm, support, and a wide range of knowledge and skill on the subjects of English and writing. I’m also a huge nerd when it comes to dragons, Norse myth, the MCU (Captain Marvel!), and cats." less...
