"Hi! My name is Devika. I am a Master's student at Northeastern with a 4.0 GPA, studying Bioengineering. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Binghamton University, where I graduated from with a 3.61 gpa. I've been on the Dean's list most of my semesters in college, and I have a lot of previous tutoring experience. My experience ranges from tutoring elementary students to high school students primarily in math. In high school, I tutored peers (juniors and seniors) for their SAT exams and helped raise their scores by a 100 points (out of the 800 in the math section of the 1600 point SAT) in the span of two weeks, as well as helping understand topics taught in their math classes (geometry, algebra 1 and 2, and pre-calculus). My tutoring also helped me do well in my SAT and I scored a 1460/1600 on my only attempt. I also tutored elementary school students (2nd grade to 4th grade) to help with understanding the Common Core math. For most days out of the week, I would volunteer in my local library after school in their Homework Help program and help any kids that came in with their math homework. Combined, I have tutored for over 160 hours. Even in university, though I am not a formal tutor, I take time to help my friends in their Calculus 1 and 2 classes and General Physics classes whenever possible.

I love tutoring because it re-enforces my understanding of fundamentals and I gain a sense of accomplishment seeing students progress. I feel qualified to teach math because I scored a 740 in my SAT Math section as well as all A/A- in my university math courses. I am a very patient person and I am always willing to explore different ways to teach so that each student feels comfortable and gains a full understanding of the concepts.
