"Hi! I'm currently a Senior Accountant for a contractor in the NYC metro area who finds joy in helping others, especially when it comes to my areas of expertise. I take a flexible approach to tutoring as I believe each student comprehends the material in their own way, meaning I try to find the best solutions for each student instead of insisting on one approach that might not suit the students needs.
I studied accounting in college, graduating with my Masters, where I also tutored students one-on-one in financial and managerial accounting for three semesters. I officially started tutoring by volunteering for Westchester Community College before being hired by the accounting department and eventually working with students who wanted further help outside of the scheduled tutoring. Before being hired by WCC, I helped students in my accounting classes understand the course work as we went through the classes together, often tutoring 6-8 students at a time to reiterate the lessons learned.
Additionally, I tutored at Mathnasium while in college for one year, working primarily with elementary aged students to help improve their math understanding and skills. At Mathnasium, I worked in one-on-one settings along with group settings, so I feel very comfortable in any setting.
Along with my fundamental understanding of accounting and foundational math, I am strongly proficient in Microsoft Excel, having taken courses in college along with using my personal time to better understand the capabilities of the program and how it can help me at work." less...
