"I’m a hard-working middle school teacher, qualified to teach K-12 and College. I have a special interest in helping students and adults learn the world around us and become comfortable and confident interpreting information. I’m a relationship-builder who creates engaging curriculum in which students can learn and grow. I prefer to incorporate interdisciplinary knowledge into the lesson to relate with students of all learning orientations. My experience is with K-12 core and elective public school courses. I’ve been the PTA Cultural Arts Representative at two Wake County schools for seven years. I excel at organizing, planning, and communicating. I have substantial experience ELA, Social Studies and World History, Art History, and writing, editing, and research. I am a published essayist and author of numerous academic papers with additional formal training in the Performing Arts.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Rollins College, Florida in 2006 with a 4.0 gpa and Summa Cum Laude and then earned a Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Colorado in 2012 with a 4.0 gpa. I majored in Humanities and minored in Philosophy and Religious Studies for both degrees. Honors and recognitions include: the Rollins College Hamilton Holt Scholarship, Rollins College Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Engagement in Humanities, Religious Studies Department scholarship, and member of the National Honor Society for academic achievement.

Interdisciplinary focus on Performing and Visual Arts, Cultural, Religious, and Native American Studies. Master thesis title “Orientalist Analysis of Jean-Léon Gérôme’s The Whirling Dervish.” Thesis advisor Margaret Woodhull. Through a post-colonial theoretical lens, the study examines the extent of artistic realism applied to French orientalist paintings and questions how exoticist materials shape and identify Islamic culture." less...
