"I have a bachelor of science in Natural Resources: Ecology from the University of Vermont and am a certified community herbalist from the Vital Ways Institute of Portland, Oregon. I have taught a range of students from preschoolers to adults. I taught at the Burlington Forest Preschool, an inquiry-based learning program rooted in nature education. I also worked as an outdoor educator for a group of high school students, where I was responsible for doing team building and trust exercises, along with reflection and feedback response. We spent a week climbing in Joshua Tree where I also assisted in route setting, climbing safety, and camp maintenance. Lastly, I worked for the Vermont Master Naturalist Program, a certification program for adults where we studied site specific geology, land use history, and and ecology in depth. I was responsible for curriculum building and creating class handouts depicting key ecological concepts throughout the training session, along with attending all the field trips.
I have a bachelors of science in Ecology, and have worked various jobs related to the field. These jobs include working for the Vermont Master Naturalist Program, as a forestry research assistant for UVM, and through biodynamic farming, agroforestry, and organic agricultural methods. Relevant coursework I have taken over the years includes: Weed Ecology & Integrated Pest management, Biological Control, Ecological Agriculture, Permaculture, Environmental Problem Solving & Impact Assessment, Organic & Biochemistry, Conservation Biology, Forest Stand Dynamics, Landscape Natural History, Applied Environmental Statistics, GIS Fundamentals, Glacial Geology, Ecosystems Ecology, Therapeutic Herbalism, Landscape Natural History.
I also completed a program with Wildlands Studies where I trekked for a month in the Nepal studying mountain & cultural ecology of the Himalaya, where we conducted ecological field surveys and had individualized research projects of an ecological concept of choice.
