"I was a graduate teaching assistant at Northern Illinois University and a tutor for undergraduate students in history. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master's Degree focusing in Public History. I also volunteer at the Field Museum as a Docent teaching visitors about history.

I have always believed that teaching, learning, and obtaining knowledge is important to the future of humanity--especially history and writing.

Learning about history is to know about the past. It is also to have the opportunity know ourselves—not entirely, not enough, but a little better. History can help us to achieve some grace and elegance of action, some cogency and completion of thought, some harmony and tolerance in human relationships.

Writing helps people communicate with one another. Good writing skills allow people convey their meaning and express themselves in an accurate manner. It improves speaking skills, allows a person to be articulate.

For the past 6 years I have been a historian, constantly writing papers on my research findings that have been presented at conferences all of the united states. As part of my writing seminars at the graduate school level, I frequently proofread my colleagues papers.

I encourage all people to learn about history. Because, most of all, learning about history can give us a sense of excitement, a personal zest for watching and perhaps participating in the events around us that will, one day be history too!" less...
