"I am a trained and experience expert in teaching English as a second language. Over the past 30 years, I have helped hundreds of students gain confidence and improve their English to succeed in gaining admission to their chosen colleges, in passing challenging exams, in writing theses, and in opening their entire world to new and exciting opportunities.

Most of my teaching has been with learners who were trying to get into university or who were already in university. I have particular strengths in working with students on their academic writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills. This includes students at all levels and stages of development--from writing a single sentence to writing an entire thesis paper, from introducing themselves to giving a graduation speech.

I have worked at several different colleges and universities in the United States as a tutor, as a full-time professor, and a director of intensive language programs. In addition, I have trained university students who want to become ESL teachers. I have a particular interest in working with individuals interested in visual art and design.

My knowledge of English and second language acquisition is extensive. However, I think my particular skill is in connecting with and understanding the learners I work with so that they feel comfortable and confident while they learn. Generally, my lessons include both laughing and learning." less...
