"My name is Eugene G. and I graduated from Rhode Island College with a bachelors degree in History. I graduated with a 3.9 honors and then moved to Florida where I am state certified to teach Algebra and Geometry. I am a high school teacher and will be teaching financial math this fall. I received the Spectrum News 9 A+ teacher of the month honors which is given to a teacher who is recognized by his students. I have been a teacher in Las Vegas for three years and in Florida for 7 years and have been voted and selected by my students as teacher of the month for 7 straight years. I believe this is due to the respect I give my students and the atmosphere I present in my room which is called the room of positivity. It is all about the students and I am there everyday for THEM!
Every year I request to teach struggling students in the math field because I believe in the importance of building confidence in students who just might not get the concepts. When we finish a topic I love my students quotes which are "That's it ?" or "That was easy!" which is an indication that the light bulb was turned on in their head and the smiles on their faces show that they now understand math, that once upon a time they thought was impossible. I try to use everyday scenarios as examples in math that the students are familiar with as a way to make a math problems seem easier and it helps to know my students. I also will use the math vocabulary because math has its own language and this will help students understand better as well.
I believe in the old concept of using pencil and paper and welcome any resources or suggestions parents or the student might have. I hope you give me an opportunity to provide my services and knowledge and will respond the same day you inquire." less...
