"I’m Leah, I have been in the Nursing field for 18 years, as well as service in Emergency Medical Service/Fire service for 6 years. Currently I am an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner. After I graduated nursing school I promised myself, as soon as I felt experienced and confident in my career, I would begin teaching other nurses. I felt it was important to give back to the profession, and a way to never forget where I came from.
Teaching has always been an altruistic endeavor. I’ve had so many medical professionals teach and encourage me, they are mentors in my life I will never forget. I’ve taught in RN, LPN-RN, EMT-Paramedic, Medical Assisting, and other Allied Health Programs. I have tutored and supervised students such as these during my usual employment (ER, OR, Ambulance) and I’ve always enjoyed that one-on-one experience. The majority of subjects I’ve taught include: Pharmacology, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Medical Lab, Skills, Medical Terminology, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Critical Care and Emergency Medicine. I have tutored hundreds of students, and I try to foster a comfortable environment and attitude, so they can break away from those constraints of rigorous training programs.
I have successfully passed the National Registry of EMT’s (Basic, Paramedic), the NCLEX, and the ANCC Board Exams for Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner. This teaching strategy prepares them well, for their inevitable certification exams, and contributes to these programs enduring accreditation standards.
Anatomy & Pathophysiology I enjoy studying myself, I’ve had several years of education and training in this area. The same is true for Pharmacology, and I am a prescriber as well. I find these two subjects are the most challenging for stu" less...
