"Hi! I'm Danielle. I graduated from Paul Smith’s College in 2015 with my Associates of Applied Science in Arboriculture and Landscape Management, and a Bachelors of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Management. I currently home educate my child, who is autistic, in all elementary subjects.

I tutored beginning my freshman year, fall semester. I had missed a quiz in one of my classes due to illness, and while making it up, I was utilizing tools I had learned in high school that the instructor didn't know. He recommended me to the tutoring department. While a Tutor, I operated on a face to face, mostly one on one basis. I tutored many science based courses over my four years there, and I also tutored financial accounting. I firmly believe that no building block is too small to skip, and I won't give up until I've figured out where the stumbling block is.

In my free time, I'm a Cub Scout leader in a local pack. I work primarily with our youngest Cub Scouts. My job is two-fold: to facilitate the program in a manner that encourages the Scout to grow and gain confidence, and to act as the first point of contact for Scouting parents who may have never had any prior exposure to the program. I'm also active within a local homeschool co-op, and have 3 classes that I will be teaching for the kids: trees, flowers, and soils. I am a fiber artist; I can spin fiber into yarn, and then weave or crochet it into a usable product. I also have some knowledge of animal husbandry from my time in a vocational-agricultural high school.

My favorite thing about tutoring is seeing my tutees grow and gain confidence in themselves that they CAN do something difficult. I really struggled with math growing up, and I got lucky in that I had fantastic teachers who never told me I couldn't learn it, or that I would never be good enough at it. They helped me find my learning style and encouraged me to use it; I do the same with the students I tutor." less...
