"Hi there! My name is Nathan L, and I received my Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. After two years in the Urban Forestry field, I decided to pursue my passion for teaching, and have since served 3 years as a high school teacher. I am a Special Education Inclusion teacher, certified in Special Education, and working consistently in a variety of different classes.

While I have tutored several students over the past 3 years, the most significant impact on my ability to teach effectively has come from the special education classroom. I work with a variety of students with a variety of different needs. In the general education classroom, I am there to help both special education and general education students. This requires an in-depth knowledge of the content, as well as a deep understanding of each individual student's learning needs. I have specialized in the Algebra 1 classroom, and have learned how to effectively teach students in a variety of different ways based on what they need the most.

Additionally, my unique experience has also given me an opportunity to teach a Basic Study Skills class, which helps students learn and practice executive functioning skills. Students are able to understand how to manage their time effectively, how to organize their assignments, thoughts, back-packs, etc., as well as how to study effectively and efficiently for tests. We also focus highly on planning, prioritization, and task initiation. This experience has developed me into a teacher that understands the origin of many students' learning gaps. The combination of my classroom inclusion experience and my expertise in Algebra 1 gives me a great opportunity to reach students in a way that is effective and helpful for every student's learning needs." less...
