"I studied elementary education in college, and part of my classwork meant being in local elementary schools working directly with teachers and students. I was trained by the teachers in ways to effectively help teach the students, and I then applied those lessons directly to the kids in the classroom. In the summers I worked as a summer camp director, where, in addition to tutoring, I dealt with campers' personal problems, from homesickness to teasing to bed wetting. Other responsibilities included organizing and overseeing activities for hundreds of campers, ages 8 to 15.
I work as a freelance writer/producer, which leaves my hours open and flexible. I'm personable and friendly and I love working with others. I very much enjoy working with kids and I'm confident that I'll find a way to connect with your child so that he or she can get what's needed out of tutoring sessions. Growing up, when I was a student, my parents hired tutors to help my sister and me, so I understand the dynamic from both ends.
