"Hello! My name is Tanya, and I am honored to have been the first Human Services tutor at Solano Community College. With a deep passion for social work and education, I bring a unique perspective to my role. I completed my undergraduate studies at California State University, Sacramento, where I majored in Social Work and graduated magna cum laude. I then pursued my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of the field.

My experience in social work extends beyond education. I have founded my own social service agency, which has allowed me to collaborate with a diverse range of community partners and develop real-world strategies for addressing social issues. As a social worker, I believe in the power of collaboration, and I am passionate about empowering individuals through theory, practice, and community engagement.

In addition to my social work practice, I have also been fortunate to teach and tutor students at various levels. I have worked with community college students, undergraduate students, and graduate students, providing support in understanding the key theories, competencies, and ethical considerations that shape the social work profession. I provide assistance with assignments, help prepare presentations, and guide students in building their confidence as public speakers, equipping them with the skills necessary for academic and professional success. My teaching style is student-centered, utilizing a combination of lectures, discussion-based learning, and hands-on application to make complex concepts more accessible. I have experience tutoring in one-on-one settings as well as in group environments, adapting my approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
