"I started tutoring the summer after 7th grade. The principal of my Junior High asked me to tutor a student in my class over summer vacation. My career was born. Both my parents were educators. My father was a Physics professor and my mother was a high school librarian.
I have a degree in Physics from McGill University in Montreal. I had to take a lot of math classes along with the physics classes. Also I have a masters degree in Architecture. I taught Middle School Math, High School Math and A P Physics for 9 years at a private school in Utah. I then left my career to be a stay at home Mom for 15 years and raise my kids. I tutored the neighbor kids and friends' children during the years I was home being a Mom. I have been back tutoring as a job for 6 years now and love the time I get to spend with my students.
I have now taught first grade math to college Calculus. I have tutored many, many students in preparation for SATs, ACTs, and the Proficiency Test. I have tutored for the test for prep school. I am experienced in all high school math classes. I believe my favorite is tutoring for SATs. The questions are more challenging and raising kids' scores on the tests is gratifying.
I really enjoy working with students and watching them succeed. I know that my tutoring works because the students get over their math insecurity. They learn that they can succeed and that raises their confidence level to the point where they no longer need a tutor. That is when I know I've done my job well." less...
