"I am a former Regional Assistant Biologist for the New York State Office of Parks. A valuable aspect of this position consisted of my interactions with the public. During these meetings, I imparted my ecological knowledge to interested folks while deepening their connection with the natural world. This distribution of knowledge is central to my teaching philosophy. I believe that learning should be available to all. Every person should have an education that gives the experience and knowledge necessary for their growth. I can assist a person's growth by sharing the knowledge I've gained through my education. Prior to my role as a biologist, I earned a BA in English with a minor in English writing and a BA in Biology with a concentration in Plant Science. This educational background provides me with a varied array of experiences to draw upon while I tutor. Education never ceases, and I still seek out educational opportunities. Specifically, I'm currently finishing my thesis for the Environmental Science and Ecology MS program at SUNY Brockport. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for an environmental science course. The students trusted me with the important role of teacher. Many students came to me for help on projects, assignments, and labs. These experiences strengthened my ability to effectively share knowledge with others, an ability I use as I assist students on their educational paths." less...
