"Hi! My name is Alex. I’m a high school teacher and tutor who’s excited to share my love for history with prospective students. My expertise is in world and European history. I have lived on three continents and in six countries and explored the world, so I’m passionate about studying cultures and history from around the globe! My main goal as an educator is to show students how history from these places and beyond is relevant to them and has shaped the world they live in.

I have been teaching since 2018 at a high school level, from grades 9 to 12. I have taught regular, honors, and AP courses and worked with students of all backgrounds with different learning needs. My experience includes teaching AP World History, AP U.S. Politics and Government, and U.S. History. I provided in-person and online tutoring opportunities for all these subjects, as well as AP Euro and AP U.S. History (APUSH).

I specialize in breaking down the AP Exams into manageable components and helping students develop the necessary historical thinking skills to ace their exams! I have personally designed a number of study aides, including step-by-step guides on how to take on each part of the exam with examples and practice problems. I have also designed review activities to help students retain and brush up on their knowledge to prepare for their exams.

I had the unique experience of teaching through the COVID pandemic, which helped me understand how to keep students engaged and to help them stay on top of their studies. Zoom and WebEx gave me new opportunities to tutor my students online. I have learned how to use different online resources to gauge what students know and what they need to improve upon.
